Travel Cards: A Convenient And Effective Way To Share Your Contacts On The Road

Ever want to give a new fellow traveler your contact info but don’t have a pencil, pen, or piece of paper to write on?

My new travel card! A significant upgrade from the first edition. See the flip side below.

Then you grab your phone and put a note somewhere in there, and find out later you didn’t type it in correctly?

Try carrying your own personalized travel cards to hand out to whomever you meet.

As you see in the photos, I just upped my game here in Tbilisi with a brand new travel card design.

Travel cards are an easy, simple and effective tool for travelers who like to meet people and make friends.

Not many nomads carry them like I do but they have definite advantages.

Business-style travel cards are a simple, convenient travel hack for making and staying in touch with all your travel friends you meet on the road.

Travelers love getting them and tend not to lose a travel card the way a scrap of paper or random phone note sometimes disappears.

I started using them in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where I had my first batch made a few years ago. I found them to be useful and effective then.

But I’ve made changes to my blog and contact info, so my remaining supply was outdated and they took some explaining when handing them out.

Those first ones were also simple, black-and-white, and printed on only one side. So I decided to get new cards.

Travel card v.2 is full color on both sides, incorporating a design photo that I took on a recent excursion to the Georgian desert near the Gareji Monastery complex.

They are easy to make using one of the free online programs such as Canva, which I recommend.

And the cards are surprisingly inexpensive. I had 250 cards printed, full color, both sides at Printarea in Tbilisi for a total of 50 Georgian lari, about 16USD. A real bargain.

Even more amazing, the turnaround time from ordering to pickup was two days.

And the friendly people at Printarea were pleasant, efficient and helpful.

Travel is not about the places you go, or the things that you see, it’s about the people you meet and the friends you make along the way.

A special thanks to my good friend Stephanie Lay for her help and encouragement in getting my new cards made!
